Yes. The Regulations relating to Continuing Professional Development for registered persons were published by the Minister of Health on 17 May 2019.
Is CPD Mandatory for Pharmacists’ Assistants?
Yes. However, Council will announce by way of board notice when pharmacists’ assistants must start submitting entries. In the meantime, they are encouraged to submit entries to get used to the practice. Council is in the process of drafting the Competency Standards for Pharmacy Support Personnel (PSP) upon which CPD for pharmacy support personnel will be based.
Is CPD Mandatory for Pharmacy students?
No, but Pharmacy schools are required to prepare pharmacy students to participate in and record CPD activities.
How many points do I need to comply with the requirements?
No "points" are required for a person to comply with the requirements. Does Council accept manual CPD entries?
Council will not evaluate manual CPD entries. All registered persons are obliged to use the online continuing professional development system to complete CPD entries.
Can I send Council my electronic portfolio instead of completing the online CPD entries?
No. Registered persons will be required to keep copies of their own personal electronic portfolio of evidence which Council may request from time to time. The portfolios of evidence must not be sent to Council unless they are requested. Council will not be able to capture information on the CPD system on behalf of registered persons.
Can I request someone else to complete my CPD activities on the CPD system?
No. Providing a third party with access to your secure site on Council’s website constitutes violation of the Protection of Personal Information Act and leaves you open to disciplinary action.
Am I required to upload evidence?
No. The portfolios of evidence must not be sent to Council unless they are requested.
I am a tutor and have already completed my four CPD entries for the cycle of my premises approval, am I still required to comply with the CPD requirements annually?
Yes. All pharmacists are required to submit six (6) CPD activities annually.
